When I received a copy of "Her Reluctant Bodyguard" to review, I was skeptical. In my experience, Christian romance is often overly saccharine, with an overtly evangelical bent that often supersedes any real artistry in the romance relationship. But after reading only the first few pages of the book, I knew this book was going to be different.I know it's tempting, when you see books with only five-star reviews, to assume that it's all the author's friends padding the Amazon numbers, but this book is the real thing. In fact, when I finished the book, I immediately thought, this book could easily have been released as a major single title with a big NY house. The quality of writing is absolutely stellar, the character development is reasonable and engaging, the story is touching, and the resolution is satisfying.
And to say a word about the Christian element, I have to give Jennette Green the highest praise. I've been hoping to find a Christian novel to read that doesn't shy away from the reality of life. When you're a woman/man in your late twenties who is still unmarried, chances are, you're going to struggle a little bit more with your past and past relationships than when you're a fresh young thing in college, meeting the man of your dreams. It's a different experience, both from a spiritual perspective, and a physical/emotional one. She treated this story beautifully, along with being realistic about the physical and emotional attraction between two people.
After I read the book and reviewed it, I gave it some time to sink in to my psyche, and then I read it again, just to make sure that the first time wasn't a fluke. It wasn't. The writing and the story and the reality were really as good as I thought they were. This is a book that will go on my favorites shelf. I plan to buy copies of it to give out to my friends. In fact, after receiving a copy to review, I've already bought the paperback for myself, so I can literally keep it on my shelf of favorite books.
Really, as a book reviewer, I rarely say "you have to buy this book". But I'm going to say it. If you've come here, you're obviously looking for a romance that will speak to your heart, through real characters who have real struggles. You've found it in this book. I don't get any kind of profit from saying this. All I get is the satisfaction of knowing that I get to promote an author who really deserves it, and to recommend a book to you that I enjoyed enough to come on here and tell you about it. I sincerely hope that you enjoy it as much as I did.

Could not put it down! The fact that she kept bringing up the that he was much shorter then the heroine short of detracted from my reading experience a little (I personally don't think I would date a man who was shorter then me but then again love is love and I'm 5 3 so that would be difficult) but also allowed for some funny back and forth banter .the story is so great and you can practically feel the sexual attraction and romance as you read through. Have read many many times and I am currently look for a hard copy as well! Also check out the commanders desire by miss green , hands down my favorite book!
"Her Reluctant Bodyguard" combines Christian romantic suspense with a tasteful mix of reality and sexual heat. The author uses humor to lighten interaction between central characters in a style reminiscent of classic chick lit. When newbie author Alexa Kaplan meets celebrity English rocker Colin Radcliffe during a talk show sparks fly -- between Alexa and Radcliff's bodyguard Jamison Constanzo. Friction between Constanzo and Kaplan escalates after the American author receives threatening missives that necessitate the constant vigilance and presence of Constanzo to keep her safe.
I read "Her Reluctant Bodyguard" by Jennette Green a few years ago and loved it. I just read it again and it was just as good as I remembered, if not better!
This book was clean, but also, very exciting. We are reminded that the great things which happen to us may not be exactly !ike we think they should be. I believe anyone of any age would really, really like this book.
At first, I was a little bit concerned that this would be a super-preachy, beat me in the head with awkward witnessing of Jesus Christ. Not that there's anything wrong with testifying of Christ, it's just it can get awkward over and over in a book that I don't have a connection to the characters. Then, I was worried that it would be like one of the *Love Inspired* books that I recently swore off.
Turns out, this book was nothing of the sort. Alexa is a wonderful and moral girl, and her Christianity and reality-based goodness is a breath of fresh air. She has ideas about her life and how she wants things to work for her, but it all covers her heart and true feelings.
I really liked this book. It was clean (not sexy), but still had some smokin' kisses (not descriptive, just Romantic!). I think it's appropriate for upper high school and beyond, but only because anyone younger wouldn't be able to relate as well. This is the second book by Jennette Green I have read, the first being *The Commander's Desire*, which I loved as well. 2 for 2 on the good books, Ms Green!
Thoroughly enjoyed this book! I mostly like reading medieval and regency setting books, but I liked another of Jennette Green's books 'Commander's Desire' so much that I wanted to ready something else by her - and was not disappointed at all!
'Her Reluctant Bodyguard' has a contemporary setting. Really strong and well developed characters. The chemistry between the main characters is really sparky! I love the passion that obviously and continually builds between them. The romance is clean with a thread of Christian values woven throughout. There is adventure, beautiful foreign places, mystery, drama and a bit of danger. The story line is great and I will definitely be reading this book again and again. I highly recommend it!
